Eirik Bjørnø ’13

Eirik Bjørnø, the Pioneer’s Sports Editor for 2013-2014, and previously a player_BJOERNOE,-Eiriksports writer for the Pioneer, will join the Orlando City Soccer to play professional soccer in the summer of 2014.

The team will be the next franchise in the MLS, and will join the top division in January 2015. When not playing soccer, Eirik will intern in the team’s PR/Marketing Department.

He played soccer at LIU Post for four years, and was named captain of the team during his freshman year. He started all 78 games since he moved to the U.S. from Norway, and has the school record for assists, with 35. As part of the LIU Post soccer team, he won 2 conference championships and 3 NCAA national tournament bids. Eirik received his B.S. in Journalism and is currently working on his masters in Interactive Multimedia Arts at LIU Post. One of Eirik’s most popular contributions to the Pioneer was his “Extreme Sports” column that he wrote in 2013.
